That's not quite true.  There is awacs support for older machines, and
many USB audio devices (Altec Lansing speakers, Telex converter and
headphone frobs, etc.) work fine in -current.  I haven't been able to
test/debug the USB audio part that comes with the cube, because I don't
have it.
