I can confirm this from experience. I have tried both and sysinst did blow
me away (I'm not sure exactly what operation) but the manual install
worked quite well. Thankfully I was ready for the possibility of data loss
so I was unhurt.

And I would like to second the recommendation of this web site. Thank you
very much Makoto! This was very well done and my PowerBook G3 with
Firewire is working great. (Well, I haven't yet configured X but I'm still
learning here...)
