what open firmware command did you use?  I have a single G4 AGP and I can
boot using this command from the open firmware prompt

to boot from cd to start the install use

boot cd:,ofwboot.elf

Once you install you can boot off the hard drive using the cd like with
this command

bood cd:,ofwboot.elf ultra0:0

I have 2 hard drives on my mac and in devalias they are listed ad ultra0
and ultra1 

I got all this info from a previous email writen by Mike Bush.
