Hello all,

I am fairly new to this so please excuse this dome question. I
have NetBSD-1.5BETA running on a 400Mhz G4. I want to try to get more
colors than the 256 that is the default. I have downloaded the XFree
4.0.1 distribution and the diff-2000-10-16.gz patch from

ftp://nandra.iri.co.jp/pub/NetBSD/macppc/XFree86/

Here is the question how do I apply the patch diff-2000-10-16.gz to the
untared XFree86-4.0.1 sources.

when I untar and unzip all the source tarballs I get a directory xc/ I
tried

zulu# patch xc/ diff-2000-10-16

Hmm... Looks like a new-style context diff to me...
The text leading up to this was:
--------------------------
|new files:
| xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/os-support/bus/macppcPci.c
| xc/programs/xkbcomp/symbols/macintosh/jp
|
|diff -cdr /m/xc/config/cf/Imake.cf xc/config/cf/Imake.cf
|*** /m/xc/config/cf/Imake.cf Sat Jul 1 08:34:20 2000
|--- xc/config/cf/Imake.cf Tue Oct 10 03:14:13 2000
--------------------------
patch: **** xc/ is not a normal file--can't patch

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Rene
