Of course it is, but customers really like overkill.

That patch was the result of several important Wind River customers
using VxWorks/PowerPC on boards with over 64 MB of memory, screaming
incessantly until a comprehensive fix was provided.

As Mike states in the message, if anyone wants to clean up parts of the
patch and integrate them, he'd appreciate it. (This is still true, I
asked him about it earlier today.)

There was also a similar patch for ARM which did get in -- probably because
it was less overkill than the PPC patch. (Not one of Mike's, though.)
