Uh oh.  Guess you'll have to use BootVars after all.  My guess would be
that if System Disk doesn't support it, Apple never wrote any patches to
its OF.  Without the patches, you wouldn't gain anything by using System
Disk over BootVars.

Yes, that's what I was referring to.  Looks like there are no patches for
your motherboard.  Bummer.

Guess you're stuck with what you've got, unless you want to attempt
plugging the gossamer patches into bootvars.  You can't really blow
anything up (assuming your hard drive is backed up), as command-option-p-r
will erase the nvram patches.
