  Hello All,

I finally got back to trying to make NetBSD(macppc) to work on an old
machine and I've had some success. In fact it's now fully functional
expect for one aspect: no zip drive. To get it to install I had to do
a couple of things. 1. Remove memory and then rebuild a kernel so that
I could use the original amount of memory and 2. so that it booted at
all I unplugged the zip drive. I've still not found a way to leave
the zip plugged in and have the machine boot properly. Any advice?

After returning home I though I'd try setting up a net boot version
for my G4 (first announced 450MHz version) from the FreeBSD (i386)
machine
I also have at home. Much to my surprise all went quite well, bootp,
tftp,
nfs all seem to work (tcpdump proves that). The only problem is after
the machine bootp's, tftps ofw boot program, mounts / and loads the
kernel
the G4 traps and stops. Last few lines:

...
real mem = 134217728
avail mem = 118886400

The ofwboot.elf file is the version from
ftp.netbsd.org:/pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-1.4.1/macppc/binary/kernel/ofwboot.elf

The kernel is the version from:
ftp.netbsd.org:/pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-1.4.1/macppc/binary/sets/kernel.tgz

Has anyone else gotten farther booting a sawtooth(?) G4? Any other
advice on how to proceed on this one?

  Many Thank!

Rob
