Booting out of Open Firmware is reliable, just not always obvious or
convenient. :-}

And to follow up on what someone else implied, yes, the author of
BootX (Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@mipsys.com>) has said he'd accept
patches for NetBSD support, and help people who were interested in
doing the work.
