Yup. I bought a PCI parallel card, figuring it would only be useful to
me under NetBSD, but that MacOS would at least politely ignore it. But
my machine would hang during (MacOS) booting if I left it plugged in.
One of the Read Me files on the 8.5 CD mentions something about this.
