Has anyone had any luck booting with an Adaptec 2930 installed on a B&W G3?

I've had the kernel on the root partition of my Mac OS drive, anytime I try
and boot witht the 2930 in the kernel panics when it is initializing the
scsi chain.

Without it the kernel boots fine, I would really like to boot the MD kernel
and install onto an internal scsi drive. (The scsi drive is larger than my
slave IDE).

Any input would be appreciated.
