I can do all of that.

I can't do that. (The only IP I'm trying to ping that's on the same
segment is the router address, but it's still there.)

More importantly, I can't ping localhost (127.0.0.1) even though lo0
appears to be properly configured.

This makes me think it has *nothing* to do with the physical network.
(Even if I don't ever ifconfig an IP address onto mc0, I should still
be able to use lo0.)

Again, if someone can tell me what to look for with truss/gdb, I can
arrange do that.
