If you take a look at the iBook's Developer Technical Note, which can be
found at
http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/hardware/hardware.html There are several
new IC's introduced with the iBook.

UniNorth is the  new memory controller and PCI bus bridge IC, KeyLargo is the
I/O device and disk controller IC.

With an entirely new Memory and IO controller, NetBSD will have a hard time
booting if it's looking for a MPC106 and a CMD controller =)
