Enhanced Apple Sound Chip (EASC)

Hi,

the speaker of my Quadra 700, attached as asc(4) [1], produces strange
clicks/creak instead of beeps/bell. This is also reported by [2].

According to [3], many Quadras and PowerBooks have the Enhanced Apple
Sound Chip (EASC) instead, which "does not support wavetable mode" [4]
used by asc(4).

Register layout of ASC and EASC looks similar, and offset 0x800
"Version", present for both, will report 0xb0 for EASC [4].

So would it be OK to prevent the asc(4) match in case of an actual EASC,
for now?

Felix
