Enhanced Apple Sound Chip (EASC)
the speaker of my Quadra 700, attached as asc(4) , produces strange
clicks/creak instead of beeps/bell. This is also reported by .
According to , many Quadras and PowerBooks have the Enhanced Apple
Sound Chip (EASC) instead, which "does not support wavetable mode"
used by asc(4).
Register layout of ASC and EASC looks similar, and offset 0x800
"Version", present for both, will report 0xb0 for EASC .
So would it be OK to prevent the asc(4) match in case of an actual EASC,
