Some notes on NetBSD 7

Hi,

I've been trying to find some time to test NetBSD 7 more extensively on mac68k hardware. Since most of my gear is in storage and my main mac68k machine was not stable, I hadn't had time to test much. However, since removing the NewerTech Quadra Overdrive, my Quadra 610 now appears to be stable again.

fsck is funny. If run on a small filesystem, it seems fine. If run on a large filesystem (or perhaps a more populated one), it dumps core with a floating point exception (!) This also happens on my Amiga, so it's an m68k issue.

iostat shows:
      tty                                                  sd0             CPU
 tin tout  KB/t  t/s  MB/s   KB/t  t/s  MB/s   KB/t  t/s  MB/s  us ni sy in id
   0    8 0.000    0 0.000  0.000    0 0.000  18.29   35 0.630  33  8 55  2  3
   0  222 0.000    0 0.000  0.000    0 0.000  2.000   37 0.072  69  0 29  2  0
   0   77 0.000    0 0.000  0.000    0 0.000  2.000   32 0.062  73  0 27  0  0

No idea what those other two non-devices are. sysctl shows:
hw.disknames =   sd0
hw.iostatnames =   sd0

Note the spaces. Hmmm... Will have to look in to this.

Booter will need to be updated soon to support 256 megs of memory in Quadra / Centris 610 machines and 512 megs in Quadra / Centris 650 and 800 machines. Does anyone still have the tools handy to build stuff in Mac OS? I may need some help.

That's all so far. Otherwise, NetBSD 7 on mac68k looks pretty good!

John
