I seem to recall trying to compile Dillo on my SE/30 under 1.6.x and 
couldn't get it to build either.  Either that or it immediately crashed 
when I tried to launch it.  Sorry....

I couldn't even get Blackbox to build, so I never tried XFCE.  A fairly 
recent IceWM worked, though.
