Hi,

The line

> X: 1: Syntax error: "(" unexpected

happens when the loader doesn't figure out what type of file you have
and thinks that we should run it as a shell script.

What does

file /usr/X11R6/bin/X

show?

If it's a symbolic link, what does file of the symbolic link show?

thanks.

bruce
