Performa 550 has 512 KB VRAM on the logicboard, and it goes 640 x 480
8 bpp (256 colors). It has one VRAM socket, add 256 KB VRAM = total
768 KB goes 640 x 480 16 bpp thousands of colors.
(NetBSD/mac68k doesn't support 24 bpp full color, right?)

As Tim McNamara wrote on the other thread, 256 colors gets "horrible
color rendering" in full color graphics.

 :)

Adding 256 KB VRAM is a good idea.

What do you like to do on KDE? I'm not familiar with it, they say that
KDE is too heavy for '030 Macs, is that true?
