"netbsd-GENERIC.gz" is not tarred and gzipped, but only gzipped. The
documented installation methods use the ".tgz" file, but the ".gz"
can be convenient at times, as the Booter can boot from it directly,
uncompressing "on the fly", which it can't do with the ".tgz" file.
They're the same kernel.
