Hi,

I'm trying to make 16 partitions for IDE drive on 1.6.1, but no luck.

Only I know is;
/usr/src/sys/arch/mac68k/conf/files.mac68k

>#      $NetBSD: files.mac68k,v 1.112 2002/11/05 07:41:26 chs Exp $
># mac68k-specific configuration info
>(snip)
># maxpartitions must be first item in files.${ARCH}.newconf
>maxpartitions 8

I don't understand what does this mean. I made "files.mac68k.newconf"
in the same directory and put one line;

maxpartitions 16

Then I made netbsd-INSTALL.gz, but sysinst doesn't boot up properly.

>md0: internsl 2560 KB image area
>boot device: wd0
>root on md0a dumps md0b
>no file system for md0 (dev 0xd00)
>cannot mount root, error = 79
>root device (default md0a):

I also tested to put "maxpartitions 16" in the file INSTALL.
Sysinst boots up, but doesn't recognize more than 8 partitions.

I think I did completely misunderstanding.
How do you make 16 partitions for your large capacity drive?

Thanks in advance,
