Excellent! I put both (I didn't try with just libc.so) in /usr/pkg/lib, filenames libc.so.12 and libm.so.0 then set LD_LIBRARY_PATH. It worked like a charm!

Then I moved the existing lib{c,m} to backup files, then moved the softfloat ones into the regular /usr/lib and /usr/local/lib, rebooted, and it still works.

It doesn't seem to help with my NTP problems, but that's another issue.

Thanks a lot for all your help!
