You are right, my LC3 runs fine on the built in console, just no color =
support. Thats an 030 too.
The issue is, those ram upgrades are rare & expensive. Cheaper just to =
get a whole 486-era laptop with twice the specs!
But I just looked at the sys-reqs for 1.3.2 [the oldest version =
available on www.netbsd.org], and it says it *can* boot in 4Mb. ...But =
then it also says 100-series powerbooks are only supported via serial =
console.
So we are back to the serial console question... =20
Maybe a skilled individual could install 1.3.2 [or earlier if available] =
and then back-port PB160 video/kbd drivers from a more recent release. =
I noticed 1.6 for instance lists PB160 as fully supported. That would =
give a fully portable BSD 68k laptop with just 4Mb, which I think is the =
goal.
But that back-porting project would be out of my depth. If it is easy, =
maybe someone could point us to a howto somewhere?
my $.02.

Why do you need a serial console?
I have a PB 180 running NetBSD 1.5.3 without any problem.
I think that you only need more ram... I have 14Mb.
NetBSD will work OK in that machine.
To install NetBSD, you can Install via floppy drive, like I did, but It =
takes=20
a lot of time and patience...
