Hmmm... I do think the LC040s did run at 40 MHz, but I've switched all of
them (eventually) with real '040s.

Every singe 68040 I've tried, all 25 and 33 MHz, run fine at 40 MHz. I
generally buy them on eBay to upgrade LC040 Quadras for NetBSD service, so
I'm sure what I get covers a broad range of possible chips...
