Is 1.6 so close already?

Well, I'm new to NetBSD/mac68k (although a NetBSD/amiga veteran and
long-time i386 user and not-quite-so-longtime hp300 and hpcmips), I
certainly did browse through the INSTALL document to see what's
different, if there are any caveats etc, knowing the quite different
installation procedures on Amiga and i386 and hp300.

I installed it on an empty disk, and I think my other (Mac OS System
8.1 boot) disk is still intact, however, when it starts the AppleShare
system extension, it crashes, and I can only boot without that system
extension. I'll have to look into it.

Anyway, I'm not a big time Mac OS user (did some Photoshop and Quark
Xpress in the past, not much more) and found the Mac OS based
installer quite awkward to use, and had I known that doing a complete
installation would take several hours, I would only have installed
kern, base and etc.

So the best way to install is probably to set up the partitions under
Mac OS and then do the rest under NetBSD using sysinst, accepting the
partition table without change.

Thanks to everyone who responded, I didn't quite expect this list to
be _that_ active and helpful. :)

One of the more important points for NetBSD for me: nice (and
competent!) people willing to help.

Kind regards,
Bernd
