Hi,

I have just installed NetBSD to an old Quadra 650, which runs very
nicely, but some things I found very strange.

There is a man page for the Xserver. The Xserver is called Xmac68k,
and it has a manpage of that name, but this manpage describes an
Xserver called "XMacII", which is supposedly running under A/UX, and
can do 1bit, 8bit and 16bit color.

The actual Xmac68k Xserver complains and exits when it finds anything
other than a 1bit framebuffer ("cannot do color" or something).

I browsed through the mailing list archive and found an old (2000) by
someone claiming that he was ready to commit color code to the
Xserver.

What became of that? Was it integrated? Is a snapshot available? Is it
compatible with 1.5?

Thanks,

Bernd
