Hi Martin et al.,

This is of course part from my memory:

Apple send out in fact THREE video cards:

a. 4•8
b. 8•24
c. 8•24 GC

4•8 and 8•24 are basically the same (1).
8•24 GC is “a 8•24” with hardware acceleration.

(1) 8•24: M0507Z/A, M0507Z/B, etc. Z stands for international part number. A stands for “design #1” (I think), B is for revision B
(I’m sure).

How can I tell I have a 4•24 or 8•24 ?

One (not found, but I had one !) have just some soldered memory and two RAM SIMM (empty or not), (Video RAM)
The other one (820 600-A ?) have already all the RAM soldered, (Video RAM) [code name “Trident”] *

I am quite sure that I have (somewhere) a Dealer’s Sales Kit that talks about 4•8, 8•24 and 8•24 GC video card. If you need some
more info, I can (if I get some time to reach it) try to send more infos.

BTW: Have-you make some search in the Apple sites to reach hardware notes as .pdf files ? (they even have some manuals as .odf
files. Some of them have images, some others are just raw text...)

HTH,

Emile

Warning:

Apple previously sold “High Resolution Display Video Card” (APPLE COMPUTER 820-0185-08 © 1988/89) [M0324Z ?] and some other
“specialized” video cards (for 21" Monochrome ?, for Page Display Monochrome Monitor, etc.)

I reach another Apple Video Card: (APPLE COMPUTER, INC. 820-0198-C © 1987/88) called “Macintosh II Video Card...

All of the above description cames from hardware “I have in hand”, the informations do not came from some documentation ... All of
these are NuBus™ Cards.

Macintosh IIsi: there was a NuBus™ Adapter Card (with a MC68882) to add a (Nubus™) Video Card or an (Nubus™) Ethernet. [Also a PDS
030 Adapter Card to use PDS 030 cards].

* I have two “different” design for the 8•24 Video Card (obviously one of them is a demonstration unit without FCC ID [not needed
for France])
