I guess you use rp-pppoe, or some other userland package. You're in fact=20=

limited by the CPU.
You will most certainly max out your connection with in-kernel pppoe=20
which is available in -current.
I don't know if your machine is supported in -current, but if you=20
haven't yet, you should give it a try.
