Even though pkgsrc doesn't branch, an effort is made to make the release
tag especially stable. For instance, we usually have a freeze, and a
bug-fix week. The expectation is that many people would pick up a CD
with 1.5.2 and 1.5.2 pkgsrc and expect it to work. If it were horribly
broken, then maybe they wouldn't bother to update it, but would rather
toss the whole thing!

But serious users really are expected to update frequently. By the way,
if you're blowing away the whole thing everytime, sup has no advantages,
and it would be more efficient of bandwidth to download the weekly tarball.
