Hello!

All this talk of Netatalk, Samba and NFS is of great
interest to me, since I need to build a file server that can
serve the same file space up to client machines that include
Macs (running the Mac OS) and PCs (running MS-Windows).

I figured I'd need to run Samba for the Windows machines,
and perhaps Netatalk for the Macs. I now have a suitable
machine for the server, and face the challenge of wrapping
my head around configuring the software.

There's a good chance I'll be putting more NetBSD machines
on the LAN, and I'm wondering whether to set up NFS. I don't
know enough to know whether it has any advantages, other
than perhaps a historical connection with Unix type systems.

Out of interest, can Netatalk run over LocalTalk hardware,
or just Ethernet?
