Hello,
I compiled a kernel with :

options  ALTXBUTTONS # Map Opt-{1,2,3} to mouse buttons

It didn't work.
I used xev and found that both the option (alt) buttons on my keyboard
didn't work (no event at all).
It doesn't seem to be a hardware problem as they work on the MacOs side.
Any suggestions ?
