I finally have gotten some more time to work with my Quadra 840 (192.168.1.2)
and am trying to configure this BSD box to work with Yellow Dog Linux on my iMac
DV SE 400 (192.168.1.1).

I configured mc0 thus (per the recommendations in the NetBSD guide):

ifconfig mc0 inet 192.168.1.2 netmask 0xffffff00

and I created the file /etc/ifconfig.mc0 that contains:

inet 192.168.1.2 netmask 0xffffff00

I can ping this from either machine.

auto_ifconfig is set to YES in rc.conf.

I notice that when I reboot the BSD Quadra that I get a few "collision error"
messages when I do a dmesg.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help.
