The drive is too large for the mkfs and/or mac install utility to handle. You
can try one of two things:

1) Partition your 2 Gig drive the way you want, install NetBSD on a smaller
drive like an 80 MB drive and boot into NetBSD off of it, mount and format the
2 Gig drive under netbsd using newfs, install NetBSD from MacOS side as
before. You must have the 2 Gig drive in an external case.

2) Same as above, but install from NetBSD using the internet or other media
like a CD-ROM or external hard drive.

The second process worked for me using an external CD-ROM drive, external drive
case, and an 80 MB drive with a base install of NetBSD. My 4.3 GB seagate
'cuda drive works great in my Quadra.
