Well, I've now tried the "current" kernel, and I still can't get it going.

I'm quickly running out of ideas. I'm going to try repartitioning the disk
into three pieces: root, swap, and usr. I figure that just in case the
problem has something to do with the cylinders vs. the partition sizes,
etc., this should take care of it. So here's a question:

The drive I'm setting aside for NetBSD is one gig in size. The swap
partition is going to be 40MB (I have 20MB of real memory). If I want to
install everything including X, the compilers, etc., how much space should I
allocate to root and how much to usr?

As an aside, since my last posting, I've also tried installing Debian Linux
for the 68k, and it flops dead when it scans the SCSI bus. It sees "sda",
which is the internal disk, but then hangs before finding "sdb", the
external 1GB disk. Grrr.
