Subject: Whither ESC?

I've installed macbsd 1.4.2 on a IIcx with a standard Apple extended
keyboard, and am having trouble getting the system to recognize the
keyboard properly. The boot process hangs intermittently at the line
"adb at obio" (configuring the Aplle Desktop Bus I assume), but when
it passes that step and boots successfully, I'm unable to get the ESC
to function properly, making vi unusable. I've tried a couple of
keyboards, with same results, so I don't think the keyboard is
malfunctioning.

I did the default device build step of the install process, but
wonder if there's something extra that need's doing to have the
keyboard be recognized properly? Thanks in advance for any help, I'm
sure it's something simple.
