I think I'm seeing the same thing in the 4/8 snapshot.  The system panics 
during boot right after it has probed for the A3 mouse when it's setting 
up the ams0 device for wscons.

The problem doesn't happen with the 1.4.2 system, but it doesn't have any 
of the wscons code.

I'll try the 4/8 snapshot with a standard one-button Apple mouse and see 
if the system comes up.
