well, indeed. curiouser and curiouser as they say. Switching slots
on all three cards seems to have fixed the problem. Perhaps some odd
interaction with my video card or the other ethernet card, or the phase of
the moon or...
well whatever, don't kick a gift horse in the teeth and all that
