No, I think this is a bug in Samba.  I turned on logging and sent the 
results to the Samba folks and the basic response I got was, "we don't 
have any NetBSD systems, don't use Macs, and don't see the problen on 
Solaris.  Please send us the fixes if you find the error and have a 
solution."
