I went back to using 1 monitor (hooked up the the Radius Thunder II card) to
avoid confusion. The dual monitor thing was just to see if X was still coming
up on internal video when I was using the NuBus card as my primary display
(and it was!) The message I'm getting now when I type startx with the OSFA
server in millions of colors or 256 colors or 256 grays is something like;

This is not a fatal error.
Couldn't set video mode to desired depth.
I gather there is no video ROM driver present for this display.

Screen 0 at 0x4248000, 1152 by 882, 8 bpp, rowB 1152, fbbase 0x8d60000.
Screen 1 at 0x4341000, 1152 by 882, rowB 512, fbbase 0x8e60000.

The screen clears and nothing more happens. ps shows X and a slew of xterms,
etc. are humming along somewhere where I can't see them. At boot I get the
following messasges; (this time I booted in black & white mode)

intvid0 at obio0 @ f9001000: DAFB video subsystem, monitor sense 0
intvid0: 1152 x 882, monochrome
grf0 at intvid0
ite at grf0 not configured

and

nubus0 at mainbus0
macvid0 at nubus0 slot e: SuperMac Thunder IIĄ1152 v3
macvid0: Unknown video card ID 0x418 -- Not installing interrupt routine.
macvid0: 1152 x 882, monochrome
grf1 at macvid0
ite at grf1 not configured

Booting in black and white mode doesn't even let me use the /standard/ X
server with this card.

Speaking of only having 16 bpp support with the available servers, would I be
able to type startx -- -bpp 16 and get the server to run properly when I
booted with millions of colors? This card doesn't support thousands of colors
(according to the monitors contol panel. The Radius web page says it will, but
I guess that's a typo.) Is 24-bit support coming soon? I understand the
linux-mac68k guys just got it and apparently they're using a recent
XFree86-based server. How exactly is 24-bit mode not supported right now in
NetBSD?
