Same here, for the last few weeks or so.

Apparently the now-default HWRIRECT ADB driver tends to lose key-up events.
On the console more likely than on X11, under high load more likely than
under light load. Once it starts, only a reboot can stop it.

Is this phenomenon known to the ADB Gurus, or should I send-pr?
