The color capability of the OSFA X server is rather limited.  Namely
you can do colors only in 16-bit more (or `thousands of colors' in
Apple's term).  If your internal video can't do 16-bit mode, you're
out of luck.  The best you can do, in that case, is 8-bit grayscale
mode.
