hey bill! :-)

well, bob nestor did the majority of the work, i just shoe-horned it into
the 1.4 framework. i haven't taken a look at it in -current quite yet.
chris has been making a rather large number of changes to the overall
program, so i haven't wanted to mess with it too much. when last i left
it, it would install via ftp (and presumably via cd-rom) from the
requisite INSTALL kernel.

once again, HFS support (even read-only) in the kernel would be really,
really nice. if anyone feels like learning a bit about kernel programming
and has some time to play with it, this would be a very useful (if
somewhat complex) project to try. i know that bill and maybe paul worked
on this before but ran into some snags (and the code was GPL'd as well,
right?). a bsd-licensed version would be best.

as for the rest of sysinst, there are a number of MI user-interface
problems that i believe cgd is working on, and there are still a few rough
edges in the mac68k partitioning code, but nothing that cannot be worked
out relatively easily by someone (i.e. bob) who knows a little more about
the partition map layout than myself. i've recently received mail from
bob about it, and i think he's back working on it again (at least if i can
get mail to his AOL address to stop bouncing, maybe i can be sure of this
:-)

well, enough rambling for now...

later.
