Subject: Centris 650 requires DDB to boot

Has anyone else noticed this?  I've tried to compile several kernels
on my Centris 650, and any that don't have DDB in them fail to boot.
The line it's about to print (but never does) is:
[preserving xxx bytes of netbsd a.out symbol table]
