Not necessarily. If they are 85C30's, then you really won't want to be a
modem server. These chips don't use DMA, so they all need the CPU to
handle every character received and transmitted. I doubt 6 modems would
work well. :-(

There were some cards which used the DMA-capable variants. Those should
support many modems fine.
