Wwscons is very similar to what linux has. It's default on many ports
for 1.4, but it's not yet available on mac68k.

The next best thing for mac68k is "dt". dt is an application that
takes over the graphics device, so you can't run the Xserver on one of
the consoles--it's either one or the other. On the plus side, dt can
cut and paste with the mouse, something that wscons can't do yet. dt
is available as a package.
