Thanks Dave.  I set MTU back to 1500, and the mail went through.  It also fixed
the problem loading an "excite" web page that I wa having trouble with.

I think I had changed it to 552 several months ago when I was troubleshooting
problems with my 56k modem connection.  The smaller number seemed to help.
The 1500 seems to be working fine now.
