Greetings,

I have recently set up NetBSD 1.3.3_GENERIC on my Quadra 660AV. I've
managed to get my local network connection working as well as a color X
server (XMac68k_OSFA) working. I am having difficulty with PPP, though. I
am using the same chat script that I use on my Linux boxen. It seems to
connect ok and a check of /var/log/messages tells me that the conversation
between my box and my ISP goes rather well (it gets what it expects and
sends the appropriate stuff). However, after the password is okayed, a
modem disconnect message is logged and the modem hangs up. I'm not sure
who is instigating this and why.

I have tried all of the ppp_kits I've found on the net as well as the
couple of NetBSD PPP howtos, Each setup has the same problem. I've read all
the man pages for chat and pppd but unfortunately, I'm rather stupid and
can't figure out what to try next. I've tried a variety combinations of
PPPd options to no avail. I'm not sure if the GENERIC kernel has ppp suport
compiled in (how can I check that?
) I suppose that could be the problem.

Can anyone offer some advice?

Many thanks in advance!

John E. Morrow
