It depends on the nature of the cable modem. It sounded like the one that
you and ken were referring to is actually a cable router, so you should be
OK. Some cable companies actually just provide a cable interface card, in
which case you'd need a regular Ethernet card to boot. It sounds to me like
the Net Extender could be plugged into the other computer to get you set
up. Then you should be able to tell the MacOS computer to have the .41 as
the gateway address.
