<fontfamily><param>Geneva</param>Hello,

A friend of mine ran across a problem while trying to install NetBSD
1.3.3 onto his quadra 840AV:

drwxr-xr-x     0/0             0 Mon Dec 14 10:39 1998
./var/spool/mqueue

Error on SCSIRead(), # 5

Error on SCSIWrite(), # 5

Error on SCSIRead(), # 5

Error on SCSIRead(), # 5

Error on SCSIWrite(), # 5

Error on SCSIRead(), # 5

pos = 0, i = 11, fs = /

alloccgblk: can't find blk in cyl

The hard drive he is installing to is an apple-branded 1.2gig quantum
fireball.

Does this look like a hardware problem? He reformatted his disk with
Apple HD SC Setup and it apparently reported no bad block errors.

After running across the problem the first time, he reformatted the
entire drive, downloaded the entire 1.3.3 distribution again from a
different mirror, and stumbled upon the same problem in the exact same
place while reinstalling.

Any ideas what could be wrong? Does he infact have bad blocks and apple
hd sc setup is not telling him?

The MacOS-side utilities included were those that are in the
"NetBSD-1.3.3/mac68k/installation".

Thanks,

  - a
