I sometimes need to use Chinese. In a telnet session to my NetBSD-1.3.3
Quadra, reading double-byte Chinese texts is not a problem with pico or a
patched less. However, the input of Chinese is always garbled. After some
research, I solved this problem by removing the -DLINEMODE cppflag from
telnetd's Makefile and recompiling it. The new telnetd seems fine so far,
but it would be better to know if there is any critical reason that
LINEMODE must be used in telnetd. I don't want to end up screwing up
important things. Thanks in advance.
