I figured it out. 'exportfs' did the same thing as HUPing mountd
does now. Apparently, it was a BSD4.3 thing. And since I've never
previously tried to use a BSD4.4 machine as an NFS server, I never noticed
it was different. The Solaris manpage alludes to exportfs being a SunOS4
thing. Linux still provides the exportfs command, as well.
Thanks to Colin Wood for pointing me to the mountd manpage--I never
would have thought to look there otherwise.
