I've just installed NetBSD/Mac68k 1.3.2 on an old Mac IIx, and everything
is running smooth expect for the ethernet card.

Boot messages show:

ae0 at nubs0 slot b: Farallon EtherMac II-TP, 32KB memory
ae0: Ethernet address 00:00:c5:22:ab:24

The output to `ifconfig -a` gives:

ae0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
        address: 00:00:c5:22:ab:24
        media: manual
        inet 203.36.1.135 netmask 0xffffffc0 broadcast 203.36.1.191

If I try to access the network, I get an ae0: device timeout.

Can anyone guide me to a fix, or where to start looking? I've scoured the
FAQ, but the closest thing (10.16) just says "you probably have a problem".

BTW: I initially installed onto an external drive connected to an LC630
(under which networking was ok), and then moved the drive to the MacIIx.
I've tried two network cards and the GENERIC #88 kernel on the MacIIx, but
get the same problem each time.

The network runs just fine under MacOS 7.5.3 with the necessary extensions.
When booting into NetBSD, the only extensions I have running are Mode32 and
the Memory Control Panel.

Cheers,
Mark
